"THE PERIL OF THE IMMEDIATE"

Christian peeps are supposed to be like sojourners on this rusty rollercosta called the world.
Like Abraham of old, we are to walk as men captivated by the vision of a city built by God himself.
We are to live like Moses of the Red sea fame, who seeing through the space in time, chose to give up his comfort in the Egyptian palace for years in the dessert, so as to deliver his people from the hand of the Egyptian.

He considered the reproach of christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt. Off he went to the backside of the dessert, not for four days, but forty years-one third of his life!
Jesus despised the shame of the cross to give His father a family of those that believe-Christians. Elijah was told to hide in a cave. He goes in there for three whole years!

We live in an age of fast foods, fast cars, fast lanes and a first kiss...dotcoms and gimme gimme gimme some mooo. Most of us cant stand three hours without turning on the TV to watch woman of my life or listen to Roberto late through the nite on capital FM, yet we loathe dating the Holyghost one overnite a week.

Try three days, try three weeks, cutting yoself off from everything external, everything worldly that has been labeled and poisoned by the world systems...No oneder God does not go before us no more. His voice calls from behind 'cause we have fallen from classic to ashes. His voice is strange in the land and there is no prophet to call His peeps back. We are busy courting the mundane and hunting mice in the corridors of materialism.

Someone once said, 'Lock yoself up for a week with only the bible as the only book, bread and water and the HolyGhost as the only visitor. You will either breakthrough or breakdown'
We cry for human companionship and at 22 the las will mourn the fact that she dont have a boo yet.'I aint getting any younger', she moans.
Blogren, without a vision peeps perish! Many a young gal has bailed outta marriage not because of marrying the wrong dude but because of marrying too early. Before long, she is worn out with the responsibilities of being a mother and a wife. Just because all yo galfriends got men dont mean you should go too!

"The peril of the immediate." We are living in the framework of the immediate. We live there as much as other men. We are not supposed to. We are to live as men branded for eternity. Ephesians 2:7 Paul tells us that the things that are seen are temporal and the unseen are eternal. We need to be careful of living in the visible all the time.

Visible values, the durability of things that are only for a time. Alas we go for the temporary pleasures of sin instead of long time rewards that come with being obedient to the call by despising temporary suffering.

We live too much in this world. We are earth bound. How many of us are eternity conscious? If we were, we would be cleaning up house through repentance 'cause jesus is coming for a bride(The church) untainted by the world-with no spot or wrinkle. Do u think the church is that today? Jesus says she is poor, wretched, naked, blind and pitiful. That is how we look when we aspire to be like them worldly icons. We are supposed to be otherworldly like Abraham and inspire Lot out of materila slumber sorrounded by sin in Sodom.

One fact should be already decided in our hearts and that is to live with cruelty towards our lives, and abasement of our lives in this present evil world. But many will cry out that they have been insulted if their compromise is hinted on and when you try to smite them outta their complacency. But we are to cry out aloud and wake up the sleeping giants in christendom. Those who are intimate with god are worthy of this call because man cannot intimidate them.
We live for the everyday and that's our peril. We are to be eternity conscious and hold eternity's values in view and high esteem.
DO U THINK A PERSON WHO IS READY FOR ETERNITY WOULD MISS A PRAYER MEETING? we have got to get to a place were we confidently say like Paul that we have nothing yet posses all things. I want to be so God possesed even when my dear friends call it fanaticism.
We must allow God to be in complete control of us with no ambitions of our own, with no concern but to glorify the father. There is not much time left. We are not in the last days. We are in the last of the last days.
More and more and more, we should be the light in this dark world. Unashamed of the gospel(Romans 1:16) even in bloggosphere or our work places and amongst our very friends who have fed us on props in the name of vanity rides.
You may not know what a wonderful privilege you have of being an example to young men and women.
SHOW THEM
YOU AINT TIED UP WITH MONEY,
YOU AINT TIED UP WITH POSITION,
YOU AINT TIED UP TRYING TO BE THE NEXT TV CELEB...
LIVE CLOSE TO GOD DAY BY DAY
The spirit bears witness. I count all things but dung that i may glory in only one thing-THE DEATH AND RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST AND PROMOTION OF HIS HEAVENLY AGENDA!

U omitted one thing, Renee, coz we live in e immediate, if u dont play 2 e rules u become a reject, an outsider, & u end up a hamlet. Just try livin uniquely & see. Ask the protagonist of Albert Camus' 'The Outsider.'

Importantly, this post makes me guilty. The fear of being a failure. The fear of not landing a good job. The fear that that obscenely cute one will reject me if i don't make the cash quick. The falteringly steps to think that am not measuring up to the standards of JC..the fear of livin in e immediate. Wat should a bro do?

But i know. Today, i finished reading 'Albert Camus' 'The Outsider' & one line that hit yet consoled me was no one: no single soul is too guilty 2 b embraced by God. But u must b willling 2 peer into ur soul & become a little boy/gal 2 drink from the water of life that'll ignite a new sparkle in your being!!

I am in shock, was this post up on Tuesday? I only just saw it, and these were my exact thoughts last night. I have not gone beyond the second paragraph... mbu 22 year old lass starts getting restless... and then the verse I saw in yellow as I came to comment, about counting all things dung that I may win Christ... I'm in shock but not in shock... this post is a loud hint! Alright I'm going back to read it now.

Renee, I long to see your soul when you write - without all the quotations and preaching. I know there is a preacher in there somewhere. When do I meet him? And if I have to fight against all the bling on your blog to meet you, I am wondering if I have the energy!

Nice Post Renee...

indeed we live in a quick fast and in a hurry world. Your post reminded me of a quote by Keith Green "If your heart takes more pleasure in reading novels, or watching TV, or going to the movies, or talking to friends, rather than just sitting alone with God and embracing Him, sharing His cares and His burdens, weeping and rejoicing with Him, then how are you going to handle forever and ever in His presence…?" We must learn to return to the basics...taking time alone with God...and learning how to do things God's way. Jesus admonished us to seek first God and His Kingdom...and by doing so all of these things that the world is in such a hurry to get will be provided for us.

I guess the bottom line is that God wants all of us..and not just the parts we feel like sharing...

The "new world order" Christian man and woman, boy and girl need some of this...let's look at some new strategies to get it far and wide too s.a.g.e. Hadn't been awhile but it's cool the new blog style -content & design. Tag on soldier!
